Public talk at Queen’s University:
A Three-Dimensional View of the Milky Way Galaxy
Prof. Robert A. Benjamin is our speaker for the CAVE public lecture to be given on Wednesday, July 23 on the Queen’s University campus (location TBA).
"A Three-Dimensional View of the Milky Way Galaxy" will be presented by Prof. Benjamin, who will show new data from the Spitzer space telescope GLIMPSE (Galactic Legacy Infrared Mid-Plane Survey Extraordinaire) results, including exciting graphics and movies. Prof. Benjamin is an assistant professor at University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, and also a member of the CHANG-ES consortium. As indicated above, he works on the global structure of the Milky Way galaxy, studying the distribution of stars and gas in order to determine the structure of the bulge, bar, disk, spiral arms and warp. He also works on large-scale models of the interstellar medium and high velocity clouds. Link to public webpage for this talk |
